What moves me
For four years, I have been a part of an anti-racism group that I co-founded with other students of Ethan Nichtern's Buddhist studies class. Our original meetings were shaped by Ruth King's Mindful of Race book. We've continued to evolve our format over the years and got together for the first time IRL in June 2024.
The practice of generosity is an important part of my life. Some key organizations that do a type of work that aligns with my values are Girls, Inc., The Nachan Project, GRIP, Reverse Rett, and Kiva. Please consider funding these groups if you have the means.
In addition to monetary resources, I appreciate the value of volunteering. During COVID, I helped prepare meals with the North Brooklyn Angels. In Austin I have served with Central Texas Food Bank and Keep Austin Beautiful.
I am often reading several books at once! Recent favorites: The Myth of Normal (Maté), Wellness (Hill), North Woods (Mason), Lovecraft Country (Ruff). All-time favorites: Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art (Nestor), Buddha's Brain (Hansen), Sapiens (Harari), Never Let Me Go (Ishiguro), Even Cowgirls Get the Blues (Robbins).
